Workplace injuries happen – what’s next?

An employee was off work for one week for a work related injury that dampc-photo-19required a short hospitalization.

Contact with the employee was initiated by the Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) at the time of the injury – assisting with the WSIB paperwork and ensuring that the injured employee was aware of all the resources that were available to them, including a safe return to work policy.

The OHN arranged a return to work meeting to discuss modified work that met present level of disability (as per the discussion with the health care provider) was arranged at the meeting where the employee, employer, and WSIB return to work representative and the OHN were present.

The employee was able to return to regular duties within 3 months with ongoing communication from the Health Care Practitioner that was facilitated by the OHN.
