Dr. Arnold graduated from the University of Toronto with a degree in Medicine in 1989. Following a two-year Family Practice residency in Calgary, he moved to Timmins, ON where he opened his family practice, including hospital work. He was first introduced to the field of Occupational Medicine in 1996 when he became a consulting physician to the Pamour Mine owned by Royal Oak. Over the years Dr. Arnold has expanded his Occupational practice and in 2007 he closed his family practice to focus strictly in the field of Occupational Medicine.
Dr. Arnold is an Associate of the Canadian Board of Occupational Medicine, completing this certification in 2019 and is a member of the Medical Review Officer Certification Council, also since 2019. Dr. Arnold has not limited his workload to only Occupational Health but has played an integral role within the Timmins and District Hospital, most recently becoming the Chief of Staff in 2021.
Dr. Arnold also provides Independent Medical Examinations to assist with return-to-work challenges and to provide guidance for employees and employers dealing with difficult medical situations. Dr. Arnold works well with employees, employers, Occupational Health Nurses, and Health Care Providers to safely return employees to the workplace. Dr. Arnold continues to expand his knowledge though numerous workshops, conferences and courses providing him with a very strong understanding of current medical principles, methods, and procedures in delivering medical evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment.
As an employee and office manager for DAMPC, Laurie has proven to be a forward thinker, team player and a well-organized individual. She possesses many skills and has a great deal of enthusiasm for her job. She prides herself in quickly and efficiently processing clients throughout the day and ensuring that the office runs smoothly. Laurie is a positive and jovial influence for both staff and clientele.
In Laurie’s spare time she enjoys gardening, nature photography, fishing, and reading. She is married and has a fur-baby, Abby.
Frederic is a recent graduate from the University of Ottawa, where he completed an Honors Bachelor of Science in Human Kinetics degree. In 2023, he joined the Douglas Arnold Medicine Professional Corporation. As an employee of DAMPC, Frederic is involved in post offer employment testing. His clinical judgment is guided by protocols used to assess the physical abilities of an individual, given the workplace requirements. In this capacity, candidates for employment engage in a thorough physical assessment to ascertain their ability to meet the physical demands of their position.
Frederic joins the DAMPC team having completed an Internship at the Performance Sports Therapy multidisciplinary clinic in Ottawa. He has also benefited from various work-related placements with local healthcare providers involved in musculoskeletal assessment and related recommendations. One of his projects was to develop a comprehensive video database to provide clients with a visual demonstration of how to properly perform stretching and strengthening exercises.
Keen to continue with his professional education, he is enrolled with the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy, and is working towards his designation as an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner. Fluently bilingual, Frederic is prepared to serve DAMPC clients in English or French.
Douglas Arnold MPC can complete your MTO driver’s medical as part of your regular re-exam or for a change of class.
If you have any commercial vehicle driver’s licence other than a class D licence, you must pass a medical examination every one to five years, depending on your age. There are several minimum requirements for obtaining a commercial licence and these criteria vary depending on the type of licence you are pursing.
